The CCi Readiness Assessment is a free six-question instrument that checks whether a market entry plan follows the Copy, Customize, Innovate sequence. It scores model selection, the tear-down, localisation across five axes, go-to-market, the innovate layer and entry metrics out of 30 against a benchmark of 14, and names the earliest weak stage to fix first.

Why this one

## Almost nobody who succeeded started from a blank page.

Most entry failures are sequence failures — teams innovate first, on a base nobody has proven, in a market they have not localised for.

This checks the sequence. It is deliberately the least intimidating instrument on the site, because it is the on-ramp and it should be.

The book behind it

Copy, Customize, Innovate

Market entry — because you start from what already worked.

Method

## The benchmark, and how it was built.

A score is only as good as the thing it is compared against. So the benchmark carries a grade and a method, exactly like every other figure on this site.

The benchmark
14 /30 [C: Median across CCi Live participants. workshop sampling, as at 26 August 2026. As at 26 August 2026]

Median across CCi Live participants. Grade [C] — workshop sampling, as at 26 August 2026.

[A]

Verified

Traced to a primary source — a filing, an audited statement, a contract, a dataset held by us — and the source is named.

[B]

Claimed

Reported by a credible party, including by us, but not independently traceable to a primary document.

[C]

Estimate

Modelled, sampled or directionally derived. Method stated. Treat as a shape, not a number.

What we do with your result
The score is computed in your browser. Nothing is transmitted unless you ask for the detailed report,
and in that case only the score, the trait breakdown and your email address are stored.
Your result is never published, sold, shared or attached to your name in any material.

The questions

## All 6, published in full.

Nothing is hidden behind the interaction. If you would rather read the instrument than run it — or run it on paper, in a room, with other people — here it is.

**01 **Model selection** — Have you identified a model that has already been proven somewhere?**

- 1 No, we are designing from scratch
- 2 We admire one but have not studied it
- 3 One candidate, lightly studied
- 4 Two or three candidates, compared
- 5 One chosen against written criteria

**02 **The tear-down** — Have you taken the reference model apart properly?**

A screenshot is not a tear-down.

- 1 No
- 2 We have used the product
- 3 A feature list exists
- 4 A feature map with priorities
- 5 A full tear-down including what its marketing overstates

**03 **Localisation** — How many of the five axes have you worked — culture, economics, regulation, logistics, language?**

- 1 None
- 2 One
- 3 Two
- 4 Three or four
- 5 All five, in writing

**04 **Go-to-market** — Can you name your first hundred customers?**

- 1 No
- 2 A segment, not names
- 3 A list under twenty
- 4 A list approaching a hundred
- 5 A named list and the sequence to reach them

**05 **The innovate layer** — Do you know what you will add on top, and why it waits?**

- 1 We intend to innovate first
- 2 Unclear
- 3 Some ideas, unsequenced
- 4 Named, and deliberately deferred
- 5 Named, deferred, with the trigger for starting it written down

**06 **Entry metrics** — What will tell you the entry is working before revenue does?**

- 1 Nothing. We will watch revenue
- 2 Anecdotes from the field
- 3 One leading indicator
- 4 Two or three leading indicators, tracked
- 5 A defined metric set with thresholds and a stop rule

Scored out of 30. Published benchmark 14. Method and grade above.

The bands

## What each range means.

Published before you take the test, so the reading cannot be tuned to flatter afterwards.

0–11
Blank page risk

Right now the plan depends on originality carrying the entry, which is the most expensive way to enter a market. Find a proven model and take it apart. The week you spend doing that is the cheapest week of the whole entry.

12–19
Copied, not customised

A reference model exists and the localisation work has not been done. This is where most entries actually die — not on the model, on the payment rail, the regulation or the register of the language.

20–25
Ready to sprint

The sequence is right and the gaps are specific rather than structural. Six weeks of disciplined work converts this into an entry plan with a customisation map.

26–30
Entry-ready

Model chosen against criteria, torn down properly, localised across the axes, with named customers and a stop rule. The remaining risk is execution speed, not entry design.

FAQ

## Questions about The CCi Readiness Assessment

Answered plainly, with the real figures. If something here is wrong, [tell us and it goes in the log](https://mkelango.com/evidence/).

### What are the five localisation axes?

Culture, economics, regulation, logistics and language. The instrument asks how many of the five you have worked, and awards its top level only when all five are worked in writing. Each of the five has, on its own, killed an entry that got the other four right — the payment rail, the regulation, or the register of the language.

### Why copy before innovating?

Because most entry failures are sequence failures. Teams innovate first, on a base nobody has proven, in a market they have not localised for, and spend the runway discovering things a tear-down would have told them in week one. Fix the earliest weak stage first: Copy before Customize, Customize before Innovate. Starting from a proven model is not a lack of ambition.

### Is this available in Tamil?

CCi is the Tamil-flagged strand of the work. The CCi Sprint runs six weeks in Tamil and English, CCi Live is a half-day session in Tamil and English, the self-paced sprint course is published in both, and the printed CCi tear-down sheet carries the feature map on one side and the five localisation axes on the other, in both languages.

### How is CCi Readiness scored?

Six stages, five levels each, giving 30 points: model selection, the tear-down, localisation, go-to-market, the innovate layer and entry metrics. The benchmark is 14, the median across CCi Live participants, graded [C] from workshop sampling as at 26 August 2026. Bands are 0–11 blank page risk, 12–19 copied but not customised, 20–25 ready to sprint, 26–30 entry-ready.

### What does the CCi Sprint cost?

The diagnostic is free. The CCi Sprint is six weeks at ₹2L – ₹15L, open to corporate teams and MSME cohorts, with MSME cohort pricing materially lower and published on the CCi Live page. It is delivered by certified CCi practitioners under licence, with Elango reviewing every entry plan.
