90 DAYS · HOW DO YOU GET TO MARKET BEFORE ANYONE ELSE?

The book in one page

The argument, in 150 words.

Apple adapted Xerox's interface. Flipkart adapted Amazon's. The founders who insisted on total originality were the ones who ran out of money. The method is three moves in order. Copy a model that has already been proven — and study it properly rather than admiring it, which means a tear-down and a feature map, not a screenshot. Customize it to the market you actually operate in: language, payment rails, logistics, regulation, culture. Innovate on top of the customised base, where innovation is finally cheap because the foundation is already de-risked. Most entry failures are sequence failures — teams innovate first, on a foundation nobody has proven, in a market they have not localised for.

The central instrument from Copy, Customize, Innovate.

This is the first book I wrote and it is the one people in Tamil Nadu still stop me about. It came out of ten years at StartNet, working with hundreds of startups and MSMEs, and one pattern that kept appearing: almost nobody who succeeded started from a blank page. Apple adapted Xerox's interface. Flipkart adapted Amazon's. The founders who insisted on total originality were the ones who ran out of money.

So: Copy a model that has already been proven, and study it properly rather than admiring it. Customize it to the market you actually operate in — language, payment, logistics, regulation, culture. Innovate on top of the customised base, where innovation is now cheap because the foundation is already de-risked.

CoirGarden did ₹8 crore in online sales in under two years applying it. That is when I stopped calling it an observation and started calling it a framework.

What it is for

Three situations this answers.

If none of these is close to your situation, this is probably the wrong altitude — and the stack page will point you at the right one.

The evidence standard

Every figure in this book carries a grade and a date.

It is reproduced on every book page because it is the house signature, and because a standard you have to go looking for is a preference.

Questions about Copy, Customize, Innovate

Answered plainly, with the real figures. If something here is wrong, tell us and it goes in the log.

CCi is Tamil-language-first. It came out of ten years at StartNet working with startups and MSMEs in Tamil Nadu, and it is the on-ramp to the stack rather than the flagship. CCi Live is a half-day workshop taught in Tamil and English, running monthly across Tamil Nadu cities with 200–500 seats, and the CCi Sprint is delivered in both languages.

No. Copy in this method means selecting a model already proven in another market, segment or decade against stated criteria, then taking it apart with a product tear-down and a feature map rather than admiring it from a screenshot. Customisation across language, payment, logistics, regulation and culture follows, and the original work happens on top of a base that is already de-risked.

The CCi Readiness Assessment: six questions, about three minutes, scored out of thirty against a benchmark of fourteen. It tells you whether your entry plan is a sequence problem, a research problem, or ready to run. It is free, needs no email to start, and the score appears immediately on the page.

CoirGarden did ₹8 crore in online sales in under two years applying the method, and that case is why it stopped being an observation and became a framework. Under the house standard the figure is graded [B] — claimed, pending sight of the underlying sales record — and it is published with the grade attached rather than removed. The entry is in the Evidence Log.

Six weeks of weekly working sessions, open to corporate teams and MSME cohorts, in a published band of ₹2L–₹15L. MSME cohort pricing is materially lower and published on the CCi Live page. Delivery is by certified CCi practitioners under licence, with Elango reviewing every entry plan. It ends in a validated entry plan with a customisation map.
